Norway-headquartered MDE Group, global provider of energy recruitment services, continues to implement its UK sector growth strategy, by announcing the appointment of its first regional manager in Scotland.

The company is already a well-known name in the North Sea, having sourced and mobilised around 500 personnel on two of the North Sea’s biggest hook up projects over the past 24 months. With those projects currently on-going, the company aims to consolidate its position in the region through the appointment of Zander Thornton.

With an impressive track record in specialist technical recruitment and energy business development, Thornton has contributed to the growth and direction of companies, including Global Energy Group and Navitas International Solutions, which he co-founded in 2012.

MDE managing director Tom Nixon commented: “From our existing Aberdeen-based resourcing centre, MDE has been involved in two of the largest, most strategically positive projects the North Sea has seen for a number of years, from initial construction to the present day.

“Zander is a well-known name across the global technical recruitment industry and his experience aligns with the development of MDE Group’s UK presence. His appointment is a clear reflection of North Sea market demand for our services, as well as our own confidence in – and commitment to – the region.”

Thornton said: “I am delighted to join such a thriving company, which has achieved some outstanding results in the North Sea.”

The development of our Aberdeen entity intends to bolster the already impressive reputation we have gained with both clients and personnel, and I look forward to a period of significant growth for MDE and the North Sea offshore industry alike.
