Presidents and CEOs of global oil and gas companies, senior government officials, OPEC officials, energy experts, Wall Street oil analysts and leading organisations in the energy sector will gather at the Intercontinental Dubai Festival City in Dubai during 6-11 April 2019, for the Middle East Petroleum & Gas Week (MPGC Week 2019), with the anchor event, the 27th Annual Middle East Petroleum and Gas Conference (MPGC 2019), opening on 8 April 2019.
MPGC 2019, the flagship event for the week, organised by Conference Connection and hosted by ENOC Group, is renowned as the longest running annual oil and gas conference in the Middle East. The MPGC2019 official opening will be held at 9:00am on 8 April 2019, and will be attended by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman of the Supreme Council for Energy, Dubai, president of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, and chairman and chief executive of Emirates Group. Following this will be a speech by Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, minister of energy and industry for the UAE.
More than 40 other speakers will address the event, which is renowned for delivering the latest industry insights from leading oil and gas industry visionaries based on the theme ‘Middle East Oil and Gas Markets: Geopolitics and Volatility’, amongst great uncertainties on the US supply, the role of OPEC+, Iran/Venezuela sanctions and waivers, overshadowing simple demand and supply considerations.

Other highlights for 8 April 8 are four trading keynotes by Alan Haywood, CEO, integrated supply and trading of BP, Thomas Waymel, president, trading and shipping of Total, Keith Martin, CEO of Uniper, and Jamal Al-Loughani, DMD, international marketing, KPC, to be followed with ‘MPGC All Stars Analysts’ panel with the top Wall Street oil analysts including JP Morgan’s Dr Jeffrey R Currie, Citi’s Dr Edward L Morse and Standard Chartered’s, Dr Paul Horsnell.
Following the trading keynotes, leading personalities, Mike Muller, Vitol’s director, and Hadi Hallouche, Trafigura’s Head of Oil Asia, will feature in the all new ‘MPGC Hard Talk’ segment, and will examine the most closely held thinking and vision of the global oil trading business, to be co-hosted by Dr Fereidun Fesharaki, chairman, and Dr Jeff Brown, president of leading oil and gas consultants, FGE.
Another annual feature on the MPGC agenda on the opening day is the eagerly awaited conference chairman’s crystal ball, also to be presented by Dr Fesharaki.
The MPGC 2019 agenda on 9 April will include sessions on ‘LNG Trading’, ‘Medium and Short-term Outlook of LNG in the Middle East’, ‘Brainstorm on the Future of the Downstream and Refining Markets’ and a Workshop on ‘IMO and the Race to D-Day: Earthquake, or Much Ado about Nothing’, with a deep dive on how oil traders and refiners are gearing up for IMO 2020 implementation, the fate of spot cargoes and pricing indications for marine gasoil (MGO), VLSFO and HSFO and the pros and cons on decisions for scrubbers.
More than 550 participants from 50 countries are expected at MPGC Week 2019 events with MPGC pre-registration and a cocktail night on 7 April, preceding the official opening on 8 April. ENOC will host a gala dinner later the same evening.
MPGC is being held in Dubai for the eleventh time in its 27-year history. MPGC 2019 and the Middle East Petroleum & Gas Week (MPGC Week 2019) events are being organised by Conference Connection and hosted by ENOC, with co-sponsors including BGN Int DMCC, Dubai Mercantile Exchange, S&P Global Platts, Shell, Uniper Global Commodities and Vitol.
The Base Oil & Lubes Middle East (BLM) Conference during 10-11 April is also being held under the auspices of MPGC Week 2019 hosted by ENOC. Continuing its focus on the global as well as Middle East base oil and lubricant business, BLM provides both knowledge sharing and networking opportunities, with participation from leading producers, suppliers, manufacturers, re-refiners, traders and end-users from twenty countries.
