ME-TECH 2019 Preview: Breathing air compressor business

BAUER Kompressoren aims to be known as a solution provider than just a supplier in 2019, says Therese Heijboer, marketing and key accounts manager at BAUER Kompressoren.

Why are you participating in ME-TECH 2019?
BAUER Kompressoren is a well-established brand in breathing air compressor segment. In the Middle East, we focus on industrial compressors for air and gas as well as nitrogen generators. We believe that ME-TECH is a good platform for creating brand awareness and to demonstrate our capabilities. Also, we are anticipating large number of technical experts from KSA and Bahrain to participate in this event.

What products and services are you looking to showcase at the event? What are some of the key points that are going to be highlighted?
We are planning to display the world’s most compact nitrogen generator for inerting and purging applications. This unit is suitable to operate in an onshore/offshore environment. It uses plant air and converts it to pure nitrogen 98% and boosts it to 5,000psi. Nitrogen can be stored in ASME bottles and can be topped up on the rig itself. This completely avoids logistics issues of nitrogen cylinders back and forth from the city. Why buy nitrogen, when you can make your own?

What are some of the key trends in downstream technology that you think the industry should be paying more attention to? And, why?
Downstream industry is booming. Saudi Aramco has announced that $40bn will be spent each year for next 10 years on downstream projects. ADNOC will invest $8.8bn each year for the next five years in downstream. Focus will be on its Ruwais complex.
All the key players in process industry will have their share in the market for refinery and petrochemical applications. Some countries in the GCC will focus on alternative fuel sources for commercial vehicles to control the carbon emissions. With all these initiatives in the GCC, we see good growth for our business in coming years.

Have you got any predictions for the refining and petrochemical sectors in the Middle East in 2019-2020?
I can mention about BAUER Kompressoren’s plan for 2019-20 here. The company is focusing on the applications in the downstream, as we are ready with new products to serve this market segment. Traditional instrument air compressors use desiccant dryers, which fail after a short time and become difficult to maintain thereafter. BAUER Kompressoren has launched InstruAire compressor to avoid the use of desiccant dryers. We will talk about our case study on this at ME-TECH. Pipeline services like pigging, inerting and blanketing require nitrogen supply in remote areas and it is a difficult task for the end-users, at the moment. We will be marketing our new solution, which will solve this problem.
