Mammoet's mega tandem lifts bring Oman's biggest petrochemical project closer to completion

Mammoet has been providing ongoing heavy lifting and transport solutions for LPIC project since 2017 and contributed to the outstanding safety milestone of 10 million man-hours worked lost-time injury free.

Mammoet has successfully completed the safe transport and installation of four 1,180-tonne NGL bullet tanks for Oman’s biggest petrochemical project, Liwa Plastics Industries Complex (LPIC) project, which is owned by Orpic.

The bullets, each measuring 60 metres in length and 7.8 metres in diameter, were positioned on sand beds in a synchronised tandem lift utilising a 1,600-tonne PTC ring crane and a 1,200-tonne crawler crane. The small footprint enabled the PTC 35 DS crane to work within the limited area onsite, utilising the available space as efficiently as possible.
