UAE-based Gulf Petrochem has partnered with India's Kirloskar Oil Engines Ltd (KOEL) to launch a new engine oil into the Middle East and African markets.
K-Oil, which has been servicing engines, spare parts and gensets in India for over 15 years, will go to market following an extensive six-month engine trial and product evaluation.
Rigorous testing at Kirloskar's Research & Development (R&D) centre proved that the oil will be suitable for all types of diesel engines, the company said.
It added that special type of additive chemistry was used to increase the oil's oxidation stability (RPVOT) from 50 to 460 minutes, making it capable of enduring even the most punishing atmospheric and operating conditions.
The two products, K-Oil Super (API CF-4, SAE 15W-40 diesel engine) and K-Oil Premium (API CI-4, SAE 15W-40 diesel engine, will launch in 1 Ltr, 5 Ltr, 20 Ltr and 208 Ltr pack sizes.
In launching the product, KOEL's managing director Rahul Kirloskar, said: “This is a great opportunity to expand into the Middle East & African market and compliments KOEL as part of our value addition and portfolio enhancement.
"What makes us particularly positive about the move is the reputation and expertise of our partner, Gulf Petrochem, and the quality of the product, which is designed to withstand demanding conditions such as those in the region. We believe the demand here will be high," he added.
The launch was attended by a large number of Kirloskar distributers and officials, together with Gulf Petrochem executives and managing director Sudhir Goyel.
Kirloskar already has a presence in the UAE through its subsidiary Kirloskar Middle East, which caters to the region and Africa.
“We are delighted to be able to bring these products to market in the region. Kirloskar are a major and leading genset and engine supplier in India and bring with them vast experience," said Goyel.
"Due to the extreme weather conditions we face in the Middle East and Africa, these products are ideally suited to the growing market here and the fact it is designed by an engine manufacturer will only strengthen its appeal," he added.
